Malden is a suburb of Boston, Ma. and is bordered by Melrose on the North, Everett on the south, Medford on the west, Revere on the east, and Saugus on the northeast. Malden is a close suburb of Boston and is served by the Orange line on the MBTA as well as the commuter rail and various bus lines. This is the Malden of "Malden Mills," the creators of Polartec fleece. Many of the city’s residents earn a living in the public sector, such as police, firefighters, teachers and state workers, while still more work in skilled trades, often in a union, and in the medicine. Malden has become attractive of late to young married couples and new families looking to settle down in a one- or two-family home, who love urban living but cannot afford prices in Cambridge, Somerville, Medford or Arlington. Malden has the best of both worlds; ready availability to the best of the big city and the familiar feel of a small town.

Once the small settlement called Mystic Side, Malden was first settled in 1640 and was officially incorporated in 1649. Malden has the reputation to be the first town to petition the colonial government to withdraw from the British Empire. The name Malden was selected by Joseph Hills and was named after Malden, England.
