This small Italian business is a nice change from the chain restaurants that are starting to take over the Malden burbs. This landmark has been in operation for many years. The menu is mostly Italian with nightly specials. The menu includes, pizza, pasta, antipasti, fruits de mer, chicken, and American dishes also. Portions are hearty and waitstaff are knowledgable and attentive. They have KENO here. Parking across the street.

I love the Highland Cafe! Cranky waitresses, well-worn seats, old tables, horse racing on the TV. It's old-school metro Boston at its best. They dish up a good, reasonably priced breakfast too. If you get the nacho appetizer, prepare for it to be a meal. You won't go hungry here.
